Prop design

The flask with antidote

For this project, I designed a prop in a universe were nature is very hostile, with a particular plant housing potent poison which can kill you with just a brush of the leaf.

The antidote is carried by every adventurer in this field flask. The antidote is applied by sprinkling the liquid over the poisoned skin.

Textured details

Texturing was done in Substance Painter. The state of the flask shows old, repaired damage, and fresh damage. It shows how it has been in use for a while, and is cared for. The paint is still crisp, despite the flask’s damage, showing that its an object of high status.

It may look shabby to us, but in-universe, supplies are very limited. Recycling is of great importance, and most things are a patchwork of scraps. These flasks however, are made with new, costly materials. Because of the high-risk usage, it’s imperative they function correctly. Thus they are created with new materials.

Sculpted details

The high poly mesh was sculpted in Zbrush. The purpose of this flask is to be as sturdy as possible, is used often and repaired when necessary. As a result, there will be wear and tear at the edges, and the occasional scratch.

Concept art

The flask is for adventurers. In the project’s world, adventurers have a high social standing because they are risking their lives to get essential supplies from the wilds.

Therefore, their antidote flasks are decorated, well-made and cared for. However, because of limited supplies, they still look a bit shabby by our standards.

They still need to be practical and quick-to-use, so there needed to be a balance between practicality and decoration in the design.
